Mooney M20 C-F Pushrod Compatibility for Dynon Autopilot

This page provides information to installers to help confirm installation compatibility of the Dynon Autopilot system in Mooney M20 C-F models.

The installation manual for this autopilot application autopilot approves this installation for all M20 models C through F. However, Dynon is aware of some incompatibilities, primarily with 1964 and earlier models of C through E models. To ensure this kit is compatible with your aircraft, please check for a few specific items before purchasing.

Before installation, it is essential that you verify the size and shape of your aircraft's tail control tubes.

Known Tail Control Tube Variations

  • M20 C-F Models (1965 and later): Typically use larger 1.5 inch diameter aluminum tubes with tapered rod ends. These are compatible.
  • M20 C-E Models (1964 and earlier): Typically use thinner 1.0 inch steel control tubes with straight rod ends. These are NOT compatible with installation kits provided available from Dynon.

Inspection

Inspection of the tail control tubes is possible via the access port located on the pilot's side of the aircraft at the wing root.

The crucial area for confirming pushrod tube compatibility is pictured. To be compatible with this kit, the tubes must be 1.5 inches in diameter and feature a tapered end to fit Dynon’s specific clamps.

Incompatible Aircraft

If your Mooney M20 C-E model has the thinner 1.0 inch steel control tubes (1964 and earlier typically), it is currently incompatible with the Dynon Autopilot installation kits.

If your aircraft falls into this incompatible category, please contact Dynon to register your interest. This information will help inform future product development decisions.
